Fun Felt Friday!

This will be the first of many "Fun Felt Fridays".  Today's felt project is an apple tree!  This apple tree can be used with apple-themed books (like Fall weather), counting, addition and subtraction, and simple fun!

For this project you will need:

• red felt
• green felt
• brown felt
• brown marker or brown puffy paint
• fabric glue or hot glue

I like to free hand most of my felt projects.  As long as you have a nice pair of sharp scissors, felt is very easy to cut.  You can use a marker or pen to trace an outline for the shapes you want, but it is okay if they are not perfect-no tree or apple is perfect in real life anyway!  If you want your apples to be similar in shape, I would suggest cutting out one apple and then tracing it for the rest.

Use the green to cut out a nice bushy tree shape.  Cut a tree trunk out of the brown.  Using your hot glue or fabric glue, glue the two pieces together appropriately.  Let them dry completely.

Out of the red, cut out 5 apples (or however many you'd like).  Don't forget to include a stem!  Use your brown marker or brown puffy paint to color the stem brown.  Let these dry completely.

My tree is about 12-14 inches tall and 6-8 inches wide.  My apples are about 2 or so inches in diameter.

Now you have a tree and 5 apples to play with or use for teaching!  So simple!

This can be used all on its own.  I will have instructions for a couple types of felt boards coming soon, though!
