Creatively Packed Lunches

One of my favorite ways to pack a lunch for my kiddos (and sometimes me & my hubby, too) is to use a container and muffin cup liners.

There used to be so much waste when packing lunches.  I easily could have used 5 or 6 snack sized baggies for this lunch.  Multiply that by 3 kids and you have at least 15 baggies wasted in a day (not even counting ones for me and my husband!).  That's a lot of waste and a lot of money down the drain! Granted, now that I've quit my job and we're home most of the time, we don't actually have to "pack" lunches anymore, but we still go out to parks or other places where I need to pack lunches, and I pack a lunch for my husband almost every day.

Although I will sometimes use paper muffin liners, silicone ones are the best option because you can just wash and reuse them.  I wash mine in the silverware part of my dishwasher, in case you are wondering ;)

Choose your lunch items, and portion them out into the muffin cup liners.  This lunch has pepperoni, crackers, cheese, spreadable cheese, cereal bar, apples, prunes, broccoli, carrots, and granola to top a separately packed yogurt.  Top with a lid, and you're good to go!

What fun ways do you have of packing lunches or saving money when it comes to packing lunches?

UPDATE: I should add that the above pictured lunch/snack box is for my husband.  When I do these for my kids, I often use containers that are a little bit smaller because I don't think they could ever eat all that food at one time!

  1. I LOVE this idea! I hate using baggies (I don't even really buy them anymore) and I dislike washing all the little containers that I do use. This is awesome. -Michelle
