Teaching Children to be Good Hosts

"Hosting guests in your home entails some work, like shopping, cooking, and cleaning. As adults, we take on these responsibilities ourselves, usually because we know what we are doing, and we are efficient at doing so. Involving children can be messy, and it usually means that routine tasks will take longer and not be done as effectively. Allowing children to help in these routine tasks, however, will help them gain hands-on perspective of what it means to host guests in their home. Even the youngest children love to help when they know they are doing something of importance! Teaching takes longer than doing it ourselves, but it's a necessity that we need to make lots of time for when raising our children.".....
